Inspection, Test And Routine Servicing

  1. The basis of inspection, testing and routine servicing of compartment integrity is to identify the respective vertical and horizontal barriers and their respective fire-resistance level (FRL) or smoke requirements and to ensure all openings or service penetrations and control joints in these barriers do not compromise the performance of the fire and smoke compartmentation.

  2. Passive fire and smoke elements that can be readily inspected without the de-construction (demolition) of any building elements. Elements that are inaccessible may be excluded from the service routine.

All passive fire and smoke systems shall be inspected and tested on a yearly basis except for -

  • fire doors and smoke doors (on a six-monthly basis); and

  • sliding fire doors (on a three-monthly basis).

  • Hinged and pivoted fire-resistant door sets serving as entry doors to private residential apartments may be extended to a yearly service schedule.
