Simple preparation for the Bushfire season is of vital importance if you live in as area which may be susceptible.
Please carefully consider these points:
- Choose plants that are fire resistant and non-invasive.
- Maintain all plants by regularly removing dead branches, leaves and needles.
- Keep the lawn area around your home well maintained
- Don’t dump your lawn and brush clippings in bushland.
- Do not stack old building materials or rubbish near or under your house.
- If you have a wood heater, store your firewood away from the house and other structures.
- Keep outdoor chairs, umbrellas and other flammable furniture a safe distance from structures.
- Remove dead or overhanging branches from your trees.
- Remove any branches within approximately3 metres of your chimney or flue.
- Clean all dead leaves from roofs and gutters regularly.
- Clear all vegetation and other flammable materials from beneath deck areas.
